Backstage & Building Crews
No theatre production can be complete without a well built set or a strong backstage crew.
Building begins as soon as the Kaneland school district school year is over (around Memorial Day) and the stage is clear for building. Most rehearsals are weekly from Monday - Thursday and Saturday mornings, so building will occur on Fridays, Saturday afternoons, and Sundays. Many types of builders are needed including small tasks, large tasks, painting, and more. Builders are not required to attend performances unless they join the backstage crew.
The backstage crew (aka crew members) moves sets on and off stage, handles props, flies the scenery in and out, operates spotlights and more. Crew members will need to attend rehearsals and performances.
